#109 Ticking one more thing off the list

By Cathryn Wellner / August 2, 2011

I have two major priorities for this chapter of my life: writing and photography. They both stayed on the hit-and-miss list while I followed a meandering, quirky and frequently unexpected career path. Now they’re right at the top of the list.

A year ago I took a photography class through the Society for Learning in Retirement. The class was terrific, and since then I rarely leave home without my camera around my neck. Twitter has introduced me to a lot of amazing photographers. They’re part of my ongoing education.

And every day I write. I juggle four blogs (this one and the three listed in the sidebar) and recently started writing for Care2.com. Plus I have a long list of things I plan to write about.

Today I completed one of them, and it feels amazing. Kelowna’s Waterfront: from City Park to Knox Mountain is a celebration of my British Columbia hometown. I think it’s one of the most beautiful places on earth.

You have captured the many faces and scenes of your part of town. It is a beautiful rendition. I love the way you have caught the birds in action. My favourite is the blue heron spreading its wings. Sheer poetry!

I found this post late last night and am glad for it. Just stumbled it in the hope that others will find the hope you offer in both art and self-discovery.
