The music starts, and cows gather around. The New Hot 5, a New Orleans-style jazz band, stands beside a field in Autrans, France. With the first notes of “When the Saints Come Marching In”, the cows stroll over to the fence, and they don’t move off the whole time.
We don’t see the onlookers watching the cow concert, but we do hear their delight. As for the cows, each time they move their heads, the bells around their necks tinkle. They keep their eyes riveted on the musicians.
Cows are curious creatures. I used to raise a few. Their lives were mostly peaceful and repetitive. Grass, water, sleep. Grass, water, sleep. Grass, water, sleep. Anything out of the ordinary caught their attention. They would gather around, eyes pinned on whatever it was that broke the smooth flow of their days. Sometimes I would sing to them. They always wandered over to listen.
Jazz for Cows has two parts so be sure to watch the second one as well. Thanks, Al, for sending the link. Watching those music-loving cows brought back memories that made me smile.
